A bachelorette party is the quintessential steppingstone into the world of coupledom. It’s a chance to tie one on before you tie the knot and to celebrate the fleeting minutes of your pre-married life. These escapes allow a bride to say goodbye to her single self and give her favorite ladies the go-ahead to be a little goofy, a little extravagant and, most importantly, a lot fun.
Although Colorado may not be the sexiest bachelorette destination in the world (our number of male strip clubs per capita is pitiful), we certainly still know how to have a good time. From slot machines to stripper poles, we have plenty of theme ideas, tips and trends for all of your bachelorette party needs.
What Happens in Blackhawk Stays in Blackhawk
For the bride with a practiced poker face, Blackhawk is an ideal weekend getaway spot. Sure, it’s not Vegas. But if you pack your glitzy garb and your sexiest stilettos, you can easily turn this mountain casino town into your own Sin City. The Ameristar Casino Resort and Spa (ameristar.com) has a Girlfriend Getaway package with a two-night stay in a deluxe room, mani/pedi certificates and $50 toward food and beverage. Swim in the rooftop pool, gamble in any of Blackhawk’s historic casinos, go dancing or relax in the spa.
For the wicked women out there (we mean, wickedly fabulous), order the evening’s cake from Le Bakery Sensual (lebakerysensual.com), which claims the title of “the sexiest bakery in town.” It has plenty of options for bachelorette party cakes and cupcakes. Just be prepared for some blushing when the bride blows out the, er, candle.
Just want to dance? Denver is a city full of places for the bride-to-be and her maids to shake it. Start the extravaganza with the Bachelorette Pole Dancing private class at TranZenDance (tranzendancestudio.com). For more theatrics, go to Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret (lannies.com) for the city’s best burlesque show, or get front row seats at Comedy Works (comedyworks.com) to see some of the country’s best comedic talent. Late night, get your GaGa on at Club Vinyl, The Church (coclubs.com), or, our bachelorette-party favorite, Sing Sing, a dueling piano bar (singsing.com) in LoDo. As for staying the night, when it comes to modern luxury—with a splash of sass and whimsy—the Monaco is the fairest of them all (monaco-denver.com).
In the Buff
OK, we are fully aware that most women don’t really want to venture inside a strip club…ever. But if you’re going to do it, a bachelorette party might be your best, most uninhibited chance. While PT’s (vcgh.com) is not the classiest joint in the state, it does feature male dancers on Friday and Saturday nights. Or check out Bare Assets (bareassets.com), which will send a male stripper to your home or hotel. (You get to choose from a variety of men and costumes, including cop, construction worker and ice cream man. Delicious!)
The Pampering Party
Not all brides want phallic party favors and cosmo-fueled debauchery. Try a nice spa day for a low key, intimate party. Visit Sweet Life Nail Bar in the Denver area for martinis and relaxing spa services (sweetlifenailbar.com). Tall Grass Aveda Spa and Salon in Evergreen offers a private room fit with a fireplace and private patio (tallgrassspa.com). Or simply lounge at Ten20 in Boulder (ten20.tv) or She She in Fort Collins (sheshelounge.com). At both comfy nail salons, you can cuddle up in cushy chairs and watch Sex in the City while your nails get buffed and polished.
Girls Gone into the Wild
In Colorado, a bachelorette party might mean you and your outdoorsy friends will trek up a 14er, find a perfect camping spot next to the Poudre River, hit the hills at Vail or even cruise down the Arkansas on a weekend rafting trip. No matter how backcountry you get, don’t forget a few bottles of Champagne and something bridal for the bride.
